3 BIG DOGS Chow on Fiesta Cup Regatta

(Santa Barbara, CA)- The annual Fiesta Cup Regatta hosted by Santa Barbara Yacht Club is one of the most popular events of the sailing season as it coincides with a huge fiesta hosted downtown by the city of Santa Barbara.
The J/70 class has continued to grow in popularity at the club and several notable teams assembled from around southern California to participate in the fun-loving regatta. On Saturday night, the event is punctuated by a large gathering of sailors and friends on the beach next to the club with a full-on Mexican fiesta-style party with plenty of tequila drink variants, mojitos, salsa, chips, guacamole, spicy chicken and fish tacos, and the sort.
The nine-boat fleet was subjected to a titanic struggle for the podium between four boats, all with race-winning crews. In the end, past champion Pat Toole and friends on 3 BIG DOGS won the battle with a 1-1-3-1-3-1 tally for 10 pts net. Losing that struggle in the final race was none other than multiple World Champions David Ullman and Jack Franco sailing USA 3 to finishes of 2-1-3-1-2-2 for 11 pts net! Rounding out the podium was Ryan Cox’s DJ with a tally of 3-2-4-2-1-3 for 15 pts net. The fourth wheel of that group was Scott and Susie Deardorff’s CAKE with a 2-3-2-3-4-4 record for 18 pts net.
