(Coconut Grove/Miami, Florida)- The Bacardi J/70 Winter Series kicks off on 17-18 December 2022 at Shake-A-Leg Miami, with the second event unfolding from January 27-29, 2023. 2022/2023 marks the fourth edition of the Bacardi J/70 Winter Series. The Winter Series events lead into the season finale at the renowned Bacardi Cup Regatta, March 8-11, 2023.
Hosted by a combination of the Coral Reef Yacht Club and Shake-A-Leg Miami, the fleet of twenty-two boats from four countries (USA, Canada, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands) will be looking forward to the fabulous sailing that Biscayne Bay can provide on the pristine aquamarine waters and generally nice warm weather and plenty of sunshine!
The regatta has attracted a remarkable diversity of talent from all four countries and spans the entire USA from coast-to-coast. Many leading teams will be in the mix for the top of the leaderboard, including Dan Goldberg’s BAZINGA, Fernando Perez Ontiveros’ Mexican team on BLACK MAMBA, John Heaton’s EMPEIRIA, Bob Hughes’ HEARTBREAKER, Peter Cunningham’s Cayman Island crew on POWERPLAY, Peter Barrett’s RESET, John Brim’s RIMETTE, Rich Witzel’s ROWDY, Aaron Drury’s Canadian crew on TRIAL, the Janov family team on USA 383 from California, Will Howard’s GROM SQUAD from Lake Forest, IL, Bill Hardesty’s HESTIA, and Mike Breivik & Ron Rosenberg’s TAZ from the Orcas Islands YC in Yarrow Point, WA (about as far northwest as you can get in the continental USA- 3,322 miles/ 50 hrs driving)!
