Tri-Island Series 2025 Update

(Seattle, WA)- Over the late spring, the Seattle Yacht Club hosts its popular offshore series on Puget Sound and points North known as the “Tri-Island Series”. Throughout the six weekends, the three races that take place are: Protection Island, Vashon Island, and Blake Island Race. The series is popular with the greater Seattle area’s leading offshore J/Teams. After the first two races (Protection Island & Vashon Island), some of those teams are at the top of the leaderboard. Here is the latest news.

PHRF 3 Division
As the largest fleet in the series with ten boats, the Js are leading a near-sweep of the standings. Currently winning is Dave Miller’s J/99 ONE LIFE with a 2-2 for 4 pts total. Second is Jay Renehan & Chris Lanzinger’s J/111 HOOLIGAN, and fourth is Kirk Fraser’s J/109 ECLIPSE with 9 pts.

PHRF 5 Division- J/105s
The ten-boat J/105 division almost always provides stiff competition. The 2025 edition is no different than past epic battles. Currently, three teams are tied at 5 pts each for the top of the podium. After countback, Al Hughes’s CREATIVE is leading with a 1-4, while John Aitchinson’s MOOSE UNKNOWN sits in second with a 3-2, and Paul Viola’s PEER GYNT is camped in third place with a 2-3. The balance of the top five is close, with Jeff Pace’s LIFTOFF in fourth place with a 4-5 for 9 pts and Chris Phoenix’s JADED in fifth position with a DNC/9-1 for 10 pts.

PHRF 6 Division
This five-boat fleet has Ryan Porter’s J/80 JOLLY GREEN currently in the silver medal spot with a 1-2 for 3 pts and is tied for first place!
