JOYRIDE Wins 10th J/80 Dutch Championship!

(Naarden, The Netherlands)- Last weekend, twenty-one teams competed for the 2026 Dutch J/80 Sailing Championship. Teams arrived from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and Great Britain. RZV Naarden organized the event as usual.
Over three days, RZV Naarden’s RC/PRO team ran eleven races. Crew and volunteers were indispensable. All sailors enjoyed the experience and celebrated ashore afterward.

Winning was one of the class veterans and a previous multiple-time winner of the event, Torsten Dullmeier’s JOYRIDE. After eleven races, their scoreline included three 1sts, four 2nds, and two 3rds. They won with 26 pts net. Their win was not easy. Their friends and colleagues on FUN JR kept nipping at their heels all three days.
Taking the silver medal was another class veteran—Bob Jansen’s FUN JR. Bob’s team sailed to an equally impressive scoreline. Their results included two 1sts, three 2nds, and three 3rds, for a total of 28 pts net. They finished just two points behind their friends on JOYRIDE. A second race DSQ and a 10th race 7th torpedoed their chances at winning the regatta.
Rik Kuijpers’ i4G took bronze with 47 pts net. They won two races but also earned some double-digit scores.
Jan Van Berne’s RED HERRING-KJE finished fourth with 58 pts net. Gebr De Zeeuw’s DON JUAN placed fifth with 68 pts net.
