NRV Tops German J/70 Sailing League Act II

(Starnberg, Germany)- The Bayerischer Yacht Club hosted thirty-six German sailing clubs for the second event of the 2026 German J/70 Sailing League. The racing took place on the gorgeous Lake Starnberg, located southwest of Munich in the magnificent Bavarian Alps region.

After the first day of sailing with six races in 8-10 kts of wind, the weather Gods on Lake Starnberg were not very accommodating for the remainder of the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, the wind failed to materialize, leaving the standings after the first day to be the final results.

In the 1st League, the NRV (Norddeutscher Regatta Verein) prevailed with 9 points. Following a lackluster start to the season, the NRV team of Mats Schönebeck, Henrik Peters, Moritz Gießelmann, and Ferdinand Pfund demonstrated that they are a force to be reckoned with this year. The Joersfelder Segel-Club team (Chris Cornelius, Daniel Schawarze, Nicolas Thierse, and Oliver Szymanski) finished only in fourth place, but retains the overall league lead with 5 total points. The NRV follows in second place with 7 points, with the Bodensee Yacht Club Überlingen team (Konstantin Steidle, Laura Weegen, Gustavo Melcher, and Patrick Hasse) two points behind in third place.

In the 2nd League, the Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee team (Frederike Westphalen, Anna Kromke, Carolin Schaaff, and Nico Naujock) took the win, finishing ahead of the Segel-Club Ville team (Julian Blumenthal, Ben Krell, Sebastian Milinski, and Maxmillian Harings) and the Lübecker Segler-Verein von 1885 team (Daniel Kipp, Joran Roble, Julian Volter, and Simon Tillmann).

The Lübecker Yacht-Club team (Bosse Fahrenkrog, Linn Welzel, Till Victor, and Linus Rieger) remains at the top of the standings with 8 points— barely one point ahead of the VSaW team. The competition remains tight.

The action continues from July 10 to 12, with the 3rd event taking place in Kiel, Germany, along that picturesque waterfront on the Baltic Sea.
