J/Teams Ready for Susan Hood Trophy Race on Lake Ontario
(Port Credit, ONT, Canada)- The Susan Hood Trophy Race, a.k.a. the Lake Ontario 300, originated through the interest and vision of several single-handed sailors at Oakville Harbor Yacht Club, now part of Oakville Yacht Squadron, and the Port Credit Yacht Club. Johan Pederson and his group envisioned a long-distance race to challenge the skills of those who usually raced single-handed. Since then, the Lake Ontario 300 has grown in both crew allowance and race length. While there are still double-handed and solo entries, many boats race fully crewed. Over time, J/Boats teams have enjoyed the race and the unique challenges it presents to western Lake Ontario sailors. This year, several J/Teams are participating across the spectrum.
