J/Teams Collect Silverware in Susan Hood Trophy Race on Lake Ontario

(Port Credit, ONT, Canada)- The Susan Hood Trophy Race took place last weekend, co-hosted by Oakville Yacht Squadron and the Port Credit Yacht Club. J/Boats teams enjoyed the race and the unique challenges it presented, sailing around the race track in western Lake Ontario. This year, several J/Teams added to their silverware collections. Here is how it all went down by division.

PHRF Overall
With forty-seven entries, the best sailing teams on western Lake Ontario had a relatively fast race for the larger boats in the range of 10 to 12 hours elapsed time. Taking the bronze medal was Robert Dewitte’s J/121 VANTAGE. Not far off the pace to take fifth place was Evan Dinsmore’s J/99 SELKIES sailing singlehanded, then finishing seventh was the J/112E HIGH TEA, also sailed singlehanded by Ard Van Leeuwen- quite an accomplishment!

PHRF A Singlehanded Division
Winning this fleet was Evan Dinsmore’s J/99 SELKIES, followed by Ard van Leeuwen’s J/112E HIGH TEA, taking the silver medal.

PHRF A Division
In this fleet of eleven boats, Robert Dewitte’s J/121 VANTAGE also took the bronze medal, as they did for PHRF Overall as well.

PHRF B Division
Mike Pietz’s J/35 SHORTHANDED won class honors in this eleven-boat fleet. Taking fourth was Sean Matthews & Jim MacIntyre’s J/33 WEE BEASTIE III.

PHRF D Division
The sole J/crew in this eleven-boat fleet was Ryan Verkerk’s classic J/30 STRAJEDY, managing a fifth place.
