Strong J/Fleet Ready for Conanicut YC Around the Island Race

(Jamestown, RI)- The Around the Island Race (ATI) is the flagship sailing event of the Conanicut Yacht Club and the crown jewel of Narragansett Bay yacht racing. Held annually since 1927, the ATI sails the classic 20.0nm course around the scenic Conanicut Island, typically drawing close to 100 boats in both racing and cruising classes.

PHRF Spinnaker Division
63 boats are racing with 23 J/Boats teams in the mix- 37.0% of the fleet! Some of the known top boats that should factor on the leaderboard include Rick Lyall & Jeff Johnstone’s J/40 J-HAWK, Joe & Chris Brito’s J/121 INCOGNITO, Bruce Turner’s J/112E TASHIMA, Ben & Dawson Hodgson’s J/100 GRIMACE, Fred Darlington’s J/105 ALIBI, Bill Kneller’s J/109 VENTO SOLARE, Susan & Sean Doyle’s J/112E PHOENIX, Tom Sutton’s J/122 LEADING EDGE, Rich Jaffe & Bob Morton’s J/124 BRIGADOON, EC Helmes’s J/92S SPIRIT, Mark McGivney’s J/99 SHAMBLES, and Jack Gregg’s J/122 TARAHUMARA.

PHRF Non-spinnaker Division
Fifteen boats are racing in this fleet, with three J/teams. Those teams are Stu Rose’s J/9 ANEGADA DA VIDA, Kim Anderson’s J/42 LARVIK, and John Cavanagh’s J/30 GOOD NEWS.
