J/70 South American Championship Opens in Algarrobo, Chile

(Algarrobo, Chile)- The Cofradía Náutica del Pacífico in Algarrobo will be hosting the J/70 South American Championship this coming weekend from October 27–31. The event marks the very rare coincidence of two continental championships beginning on the same day in North and South America!

Fifteen teams from four nations (Chile, Ecuador, Peru, and Argentina) are looking forward to three days of racing on the rolling Pacific swells just off the entrance of the Cofradía Náutica del Pacífico’s remarkable waterfront facilities (how often does a yacht club have its own 25-ton Travel Lift)?!.
Some of the notable teams include Guido Van Avermaete’s WHISKY from Argentina, Pablo & Luis Herman’s NEW WAVE, Francisco Perez’s ELEANOR RIGBY, Jonathan Martinetti’s MORENITA from Ecuador, Alec Hughe’s WINDMADE from Peru, and the Andres Ducasse family on TSUNAMI.
