Huge J/Fleet Set for Alessio-Kleinman Swiftsure Regatta on San Francisco Bay

(San Francisco, CA)- The St Francis Yacht Club will be hosting its annual Aldo Alessio and Phylis Kleinman Swiftsure Regatta on San Francisco Bay for a huge fleet of J/105s, J/88s, and two handicap fleets of ORC and PHRF offshore sailboats.

J/105 Class
Twenty-five teams are entered with virtually all of the San Francisco Bay veterans participating for the two-day weekend regatta. Watch for the usual suspects to be at the top of the leaderboard; such as Theresa Brandner’s BLACK FLAG, Randy Hecht’s NIUHI, Phil Laby’s GODOT 2.0, Jeff Litfin’s MOJO, Bruce Stone & Nicole Breault’s ARBITRAGE, Rolf Kaiser & Justin Oberbauer’s DONKEY JACK, Tim Russell’s NE*NE, Scott Sellers & Geoff McDonald’s BEAST OF BURDEN, and Ryan Simmons’s BLACKHAWK.

J/88 Class
Six teams are sailing for J/88 class honors in this fun weekend of racing. It’s difficult to handicap this group as all of them have been podium finishers in past regattas in the Bay Area. Those teams include Logan Ashcraft’s HIJINKS, Dave Corbin’s BUTCHER, Brice Dunwoodie’s RAVENETTE, Steven Gordon’s INCONCEIVABLE, and Tom Thayer’s SPEEDWELL.

ORC Division
Six of the eleven entries in the fleet are J/Boats teams, all experienced offshore racers with deep, local knowledge of the Bay. Those teams include two J/111s (Nesrin Bass’s SWIFT NESS & John Arens’s REVERIE), Dan Brousseau’s J/109 TANGAROA, David Halliwell’s J/120 PEREGRINE, Kevin Wilkinson’s J/112E JUBILANT, and Greg Wingters’s J/35 JARLEN.

PHRF Division
The seven-boat fleet includes Rhett Smith’s classic J/92 HUMBLE VANDAL going up against a quintet of equally classic Express 37s from around the Bay.
