INTERGALACTIC Wins 2026 U.K. J/80 National Championship
(Poole, England)- The 2026 UK J/80 National Championship was hosted together with the International Paint Poole Regatta from 22nd to 25th May, 2026. The event was organized by the Combined Yacht Clubs of Poole: Royal Motor Yacht Club, Parkstone Yacht Club, Poole Yacht Club, and the Royal Ocean Racing Club. A half-dozen teams from the United Kingdom and Ireland enjoyed a festive six races for their nationals.
Like their Poole Regatta colleagues, the J/80 sailors enjoyed three out of four scheduled days of light gradient wind to medium sea breeze under champagne sunny conditions. Here’s how it went down for those J/80 teams.
From the start, it was clearly evident that two Irish teams were going to be exchanging punches for the duration of the regatta. Winning the first race was Simon Cameron’s INTERGALACTIC, while Austin Kenny’s RAM JAM took second. In the next race, their positions were reversed, with RAM JAM winning and INTERGALACTIC second. And, so it went for the rest of the races. In the end, both teams finished with 8 pts net, with INTERGALACTIC winning on countback over RAM JAM.
The final step on the podium was taken by Eoin McPherson’s EMOJI from Brighton Marina YC, awarded the bronze medal with 14 pts net.
