(Seattle, WA)- The Sloop Tavern Yacht Club in Seattle, WA, hosted its annual Three Buoy Fiasco this past weekend for the forty-three-boat fleet of enthusiastic sailors. The prescribed course of NWZMN marks was exactly 11.943 nm long. Each boat had their choice of whether to sail around that set of buoys either clockwise or counter-clockwise!

The race attracted quite an eclectic fleet of J/teams, with most of them finishing the race, although a few took either RET or DNC’s! In fact, just over one-third of the total fleet posted RET/DNCs. It was a fast breezy race for many, with J/105s getting around the track in just over 2 hours- about 5.97 kts average! Here’s how it all went down in this year’s “fiasco”!

PHRF 1
Taking the silver medal was Jean Pierre Boespflug’s J/105 ASTERIX.

PHRF 5
The two J/80s killed it. Winning was Alex Thomson’s CRAZY IVAN and just seven minutes behind was Matt Larson’s MANIC to take the silver medal!

PHRF 6
Not surprisingly, the two J/105s occupied the podium. Winning was Jonathan Saunders’s EL GATO, while Irene Tang’s DEBONAIR took the bronze medal. Notably, EL GATO was 2nd overall!!

PHRF 7
The entire group of J/Teams entered swept the podium, much to their competitor’s dismay! Winning was Jerry Woodfield’s J/109 SHADA. Taking the silver medal was David Miller’s J/99 ONE LIFE.
