New Teams Shake Up Podium at German J/70 Sailing League Opener in Starnberg

(Starnberg, Germany)- The first event of the 2026 German J/70 Sailing League took place last weekend in Starnberg, Germany, with the Deutscher Touring Yacht Club hosting eighteen of the premier sailing clubs in Germany. The DTYC RC/PRO team ran eight races per team over the two-day weekend regatta.

The leaderboard looked unlike any from the past year, with three new teams on the podium. More amazingly, the top two teams scored only podium finishes, with both winning 3 races!

2026 0423 J70 Germany winners

Winning was the Joersfelder Segel-Club team with 13.69 pts. The JSC crew included skipper Christoph Cornelius and crew of Nicolas Thierse, Jannik Gabriel, and Daniel Schwarze.

Second was the Muhlenberger Segel-Club team with 16 pts. The MSC team included skipper Till Kruger and crew of Lynn Hafemann, Benjamin Ahles, and Jasper Thorns.

Third place went to Potsdamer Yacht Club with 21 pts. The PYC crew included skipper Mike Przybyl and crew of Line Wolters, Elias Bottger, and Clara Held.

The balance of the top five included Bodensee Yacht Club- Uberlingen in fourth, led by skipper Jonathan Steidle, and Segel-und-Motorboot Club Uberlingen in fifth place, led by skipper Steffen Heberger. Several of the past top teams could only manage top ten finishes!
