Scott transitioned from J/Boat ownership to J/Boat dealership owner! Growing up in a boating family, he is now proud to represent a line of sailboats that has provided countless of hours of fun on the water for the owners, their family, and their friends. Growing up, vacations were planned at venues where they could camp and boat. Sailing became Scott’s passion in college and he continues to fuel that passion pursuing new sailboat experiences from “round the buoys” racing, to offshore overnight races, to cruising with friends and sipping a favorite beverage!! The J/Boats Southwest team has been put together to help our customers share the joy and passion of sailing on easy to sail fast boats with family and friends. We look forward to seeing you out there on a J/Boat enjoying this life-long sport! As the name of his current J/Boat states: You Only Live Once! (YOLO!)
Alan loves sailing and grew up racing with his family’s 1974 C&C 35 for 20 years in Lake Erie. He found J/Boats in 1999. Racing the J/80 and J/105 on the East Coast, he brought them to Texas in 2004 to teach families to race and to cruise. Starting the B Sailing Club in 2004, he continues to help new sailors enter the sport and to introduce families to this lifestyle. He came to J/Boats Southwest in 2013 to anchor the Houston market. He believes the buying and selling process can be rewarding, efficient, and he utilizes his experience teaching sailing to understand the right yacht for his clients.
Hi. I’m Kurt VanderWall, J/Boats Southwest Colorado representative. During my younger years here in Colorado I had the chance to sail smaller boats and catamarans, but cycling, bicycle racing, and training for endurance events were my real passion. I often rode up Loveland Pass for mountain training, skirting Lake Dillon, and spied the Dillon Yacht Club boats racing their summer series. I was impressed with the intense competition and caught on as crew. I was hooked. I soon bought a new J/80 back in 2001 and sailed as much I could. When ice arrived, we took it to Texas and Florida and ultimately campaigned the J/80 for over 15 years. The adrenaline rush and learning never stops. The past few years I’ve been trimming and doing tactics on a J/70 based out of Houston, and crewing on a J/24 when in Dillon. My goal with J/Boats Southwest is to help as many people as possible experience the passion and lifelong adventure of J/Boat sailing just like I am doing.
I am very excited to represent J/Boats Southwest in the great state of Tennessee. I guess you could say I have sailing in my blood. I started spending weekends racing sailboats in Northern New Mexico. We raced in all types of boats. J/Boats, Lasers, cruisers, it didn't matter as long as it floated. I have competed in everything from local club championships, district championships, National and World Championships in various J boat classes. With over 40 years of sailing experience it seems that I've done almost everything sailing. My favorite part of this business is working with customers and watching their excitement when they finally find the boat of their dreams. I especially enjoy working with my friends that I have sailed with in the past, with whom I've developed long-standing friendship over the years. I also look forward to the friendships I will make with my future customers. I am ready to put my experience and knowledge to work for you today.
Stephanie grew up along the coasts around the world and is a true water adventurer. As a sailor and J/Racer herself, she is pleased to use her IT and marketing skills on behalf of J/Boats Southwest. When not on the water, she enjoys experimenting with new recipes and pairing them with the right bottle of wine.
