(Hamburg, Germany)\u2014The Hamburger Segel Club hosted forty-two boats with 186 participants this past weekend. The HSC RC\/ PRO team did an excellent job in the challenging lake winds to run seven exciting races in three classes: J\/22s, J\/24s, and J\/70s. Despite the foggy November weather, the sailors were able to start fantastic races and experience the beautiful Alster Lake to the fullest with light winds.<\/p>\n
The evening “Father Frost Party” was another highlight of the weekend. People danced on the dance floor to music from a killer D.J. spinning the disks until well after midnight!! A great end to a fun and eventful day!<\/p>\n
J\/22 Class<\/strong> J\/24 Class<\/strong> J\/70 Class<\/strong> Losing that battle and earning the silver medal was Johannes Machur’s crew of Maybritt Adolphi, Till Kruger, and Henrike Germer with a 7-3-1-4-1-1-3 tally for 13 pts.<\/p>\n Taking the bronze medal was Siri Segger’s NRV team of Jola Schonebck, Oliver Sanders, and Bjarne Stegelmann. Their record was a steady 3-1-5-3-2-2-4-2 for 15 pts. That was very competitive racing amongst the top three teams!<\/p>\n Sailing photo credits: Karin Krugler-Felsch<\/p>\n
Winning was Thomas L\u00f6sch’s crew of Gabi Kretschmer and Silke Basedow with a record of 2-2-1-5-4-3-1 for 13 pts net. Just one point back was Thorsten Spotter’s crew of Hannes Ranke and Florian Buchs with scoreline of 5-1-11-1-1-1-1-5 for 14 pts net. Rounding out the podium were Reiner Brockerhoff and Christoph Declerque took the bronze medal with a record of 3-7-2-2-2-5-4 for 18 pts net.<\/p>\n
The always competitive J\/24 class was won by Till Pomarius’s team of Thorsten Paech, Jannik Duehren, Moritz Book, and Jonas Lyssewski; their record of 2-5-2-1-11-4-1 was good for 15 pts net. Taking the silver medal was the veteran Manfred Konig’s team of Tina Luelfing, Nils Glockow, Malte Gibbe, and Stephan Kessenich with a 2-5-2-1-11-4-1 roller-coaster tally of 15 pts net. Rounding out the podium with the bronze medal was Lynn Wolgast’s crew of Erik Gente, Malena Phillippi, Lynn Thorns, and Lena Harder with a steady tally of 5-2-42-4-3-7 for 20 pts net.<\/p>\n
After seven races, the three-way battle for the podium was finally settled in a cloud of dust and spray in the last race. Winning by a single point was Jokob Porthun (ASVW) team of Paul Arp, Adrian Helbig, and Eric Werner. Starting with a slow 6th place, they closed with all podium finishes of 2-2-2-3-2-1 for 12 pts net!<\/p>\n
