The\u00a0J\/70<\/a>\u00a0class has continued to grow in popularity at the club and several notable teams assembled from around southern California to participate in the fun-loving regatta. On Saturday night, the event is punctuated by a large gathering of sailors and friends on the beach next to the club with a full-on Mexican fiesta-style party with plenty of tequila drink variants, mojitos, salsa, chips, guacamole, spicy chicken and fish tacos, and the sort.\u00a0<\/p>\n The nine-boat fleet was subjected to a titanic struggle for the podium between four boats, all with race-winning crews. In the end, past champion Pat Toole and friends on 3 BIG DOGS won the battle with a 1-1-3-1-3-1 tally for 10 pts net. Losing that struggle in the final race was none other than multiple World Champions David Ullman and Jack Franco sailing USA 3 to finishes of 2-1-3-1-2-2 for 11 pts net! Rounding out the podium was Ryan Cox’s DJ with a tally of 3-2-4-2-1-3 for 15 pts net.
